The first thing you’ll notice in my first base list is that I’ve got some ranks that bust up the Average Draft Position (column 4) and laugh in the face of rankings on some of the more revered Web sites out there.
The biggest freefall was Kevin Youkilis. It’s almost ridiculous how far he dropped, but I just want to stay away. His ADP has him getting picked way to high. The simple fact is, I think Joey Votto, Aubrey Huff and Carlos Pena will have better seasons than Youkilis and better than Garrett Atkins, a third baseman who qualifies at first, and who I also dropped down the list.
I really like Votto and Huff, and I don’t like Derek Lee, that much is obvious by the listing. I moved guys like Hank Blalock and Carlos Guillen up a tier above where they’re pegged according to ADP, and dropped James Loney, Mike Jacobs and Jason Giambi.
What do you think? Is Youkilis going to repeat last season? Do I have Votto too high? Let us know in the comments.
