Just like at second base, a deep position with potential fantasy stars into the fourth tier.
Youkilis probably won’t match his production from a year ago, but if you get him as a fourth-tier player he’s a value. Same for Atkins. Mark Reynolds, Kevin Kouzmanoff, Alex Gordon, Edwin Encarnacion, Carlos Guillen, Hank Blalock and Pablo Sandoval will all be regular third basemen or utility players in your leagues.
While I’m not completely sold on Rodriguez being able to perform up to his norm this year, I also don’t think I could drop him out of the top tier.
David Wright could be a better fantasy player than A-Rod, cyst-in-hip or not. Some other guys that may not agree with all of the mainstream sites: Aubrey Huff, Melvin Mora, Ryan Zimmerman and Adrianne Beltre in the third tier and Mark DeRosa and Chone Figgins in the fifth. Figgins is someone you have to overpay for, as I pointed out in the Angels preview. DeRosa seems too expensive.
