10:13 — It’s been a long day. I’m going to sign off on these updates. However, y’all can keep talking in the comments and forums. I’ll leave you with an open-ended question: Which team has had the best draft so far?
10:11 — That’s it folks. Round 3, Day 2 of the 2010 NFL Draft is done. You should really check out our forums, start some new topics, comment on the ones that are already there.
10:09 — Titans and Falcons with the last two picks for tonight. Remember, we’ll be here again tomorrow spinning some fantasy whatsits.
10:07 — That dude was in the green room?! Brandon Ghee was just picked by the Bengals, deserves his own update. He’s a CB from Wake Forest.
10:02 — A Miami player was picked! TE Jimmy Graham goes to the Saints.
9:56 — Tony Moeaki, TE, Iowa is the proud property of the Kansas City Chiefs. Anybody have anything to say about Moeaki?
9:50 — Adam Schefter (@Adam_Schefter) via Twitter: “Pats just traded #89 to Carolina for a second-rounder next year. Pats stocked w/ two 1s & two 2s in 2011. Wow.”
9:48 –49ers pick Navarro Bowman, LB, PSU.
9:46 — Panthers add another QB, Armanti Edwards from Appalachian State and the Patriots make a rapid fire pick of WR Taylor Price, Ohio.
9:43 — So where did you guys have WR Andre Roberts, Citadel, just picked by the Cardinals, on your draft boards?
9:41 — From Trey Wingo on Twitter: “say what you want about mccoy, but he replaced the legendary VY at UT..off natl.title year, and went on to win most games in FBS history.”
9:39 — Broncos pick Eric Decker, WR, Minnesota. Have a feeling Thomas (Rd. 1) and Decker will both be highly coveted in rookie drafts this year.
9:37 — Of the 12 picks that are left, only two of them are original picks — the Super Bowl teams. Seven are via trade and three are compensatory picks
9:36 — From @chetrazzball, who has linked to us a number of times, via Twitter: McCoy seems like he could compete with Jake and Seneca pretty soon.”
9:34 — Swear Mike Mayock just “Bernie Coleslawr.”
9:33 — Browns pick Colt McCoy in the third round. How long until he starts in Cleveland… As in how many games? Brady Quinn played in one game his rookie year.
9:30 — Jordan Shipley, WR, Texas picked by the Bengals. What kind of fantasy impact is Shipley going to have? He’s an interesting pick.
9:28 — From ESPN NYC Editor and reporter Chris Sprow via Twitter: “Roger Goodell: The man can sign some autographs. Going on 40 mins of action.”
9:25 — We’re on pick 83 of 98 today. Third round is flying along.
9:23 — Steelers make the main feed by picking a skill player, Emmanuel Sanders, WR, SMU. It’s the 5-11, 186, that let him drop. Can he make up for Santonio Holmes’ departure? I think not. What do you think?
9:21 — From Larry Fitzgerald via Twitter: “This draft seems to have more defensive players come out than ive seen in a while.”
9:19 — Invent a new sport and tell us about it, lacross country for me, in our forums.
9:16 — Props to Guest in the comments, he called the Brandon LaFell pick.
9:15 — Chargers just picked linebacker Donald Butler. A good value in the third?
9:13 — Almost on que, Sockonfl starts talking about how few receivers have been picked in the comments and we get two in a row.
9:12 — Brandon LaFell, WR, LSU goes to the Panthers. Just a reminder, Steve Smith was a third-round pick.
9:11 — Damian Williams, WR, USC goes to the Titans. Another weapon for Vince Young?
9:07 — Giants are up. My team. Let’s see what they do now… FS Chad Jones. the secondary was a mess last year. Giants draft so far:
Jason Pierre-Paul (Rd. 1), Linval Joseph (Rd. 2), Chad Jones. All defense — DE, DT and FS. What do we think?
9:01 — McCoy continues to fall. Thought maybe the Jaguars would bite. Maybe the 49ers in a couple picks?
8:54 — Packers get strong safety Morgan Burnett.
8:53 — Eagles traded again, this time to the Packers.
8:49 — Ravens just picked TE Ed Dickson, Oregon. Anybody else surprised Aaron Hernandez is still available?
8:45 — Jon Asamoah, G, just picked by the Chiefs. If he was a tackle he would have been drafted much sooner.
8:39 — Picks are coming in fast now. So, I’m only going to post skill players or others that seem notable, but let’s start talking teams. How have the Chiefs drafted:
Eric Berry (Rd 1), Dexter McCluster (Rd 2) and Javier Arenas (Rd 2)
8:37 — Twitter’s going nuts about a bomb hit by the Mets’ Ike Davis.
8:36 –DB Jerome Murphy picked by the Rams. So, again, I ask, does anyone have an opinion on him?
8:32 — From Hugging Harold Reynolds on Twitter: Boomer just always looks in a constant state of “I really need to belch.”
8:30 — Charles Brown, T, USC just picked by the Saints to end Round 2. So, what about Round 2? As crazy as Round 1? Crazier? Please, let us know in the comments.
8:27 –Colts select Pat Angerer, LB, Iowa.
8:26 –Colts and Saints will finish off the Round 2.
8:24 — Brandon Spikes, LB, goes to the Patriots. Steal here. I might try to own him in an IDP league if he starts.
8:20 — Vladimir Ducasse, OT, UMass. picked by the Jets. NFL Network graphic says he’s raw but talented. Truthfully, I don’t know much more about him. Commenters?
8:18 — Jets upcoming pick (61 overall) could be only the 16th this round made by the original owner of the pick.
8: 17 — Don’t get me wrong. Tate could be an excellent pro, but Seahawks have issues at signal-caller.
8:15 — Seahawks pick (60th overall) is Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame. Now they just need someone to throw him the ball.
8:12 –Time for Colt McCoy?
8:10 –Replacement was the wrong word. I meant complement. Not sure Hardesty can carry a full load. Then again, we were saying that about Chris Johnson, too.
8:08 — Browns pick Montario Hardesty, RB, Tennessee. So, like the Chiefs, the Browns get a replacement for their recently anointed superstar running back.
8:05 — Tate is a running back. Bold prediciton: He’ll be the best running back from this draft.
8:03 — BOOM! Texans pick Ben Tate. Called it. Give me some slack. I haven’t got one right in two days.
8:02 –Texans are on the clock. Ben Tate, Ben Tate, Ben Tate. Please.
8:01 — Clock is red on the Patriots again. Another trade?
7:56 — Ravens pick Terrence Cody, DT/NT, Alabama. IDP value anyone?
7:52 — Packers pick Mike Neal, DE, Purdue. Guest, jzak will provide all the analysis and commentary you need in the comments.
7:49 — Cowboys trade for Eagles pick. Is the trading this year as ridiculous as I think it is?… Cowboys just picked Sean Lee, LB, Penn State.
7:44 — Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida picked quickly by the Bengals. Back-to-back FLA DEs.
7:43 — Jermaine Cunningham, DE, picked by the Patriots. I’ve been watching on ESPN. Think I’m switching to NFLN.
7:41 — Patriots pick is already in. We’ll know more after this commercial break. Could you tell how excited I was with the Worilds pick?
7:39 — Steelers select Jason Worilds, LB, Va. Tech.
7:36 — John Randle. Awesome. Vikings pick Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford. It’s official. Awe, man, now Adrian Peterson has zero value in 2010. I’m kidding, Internet. Kidding.
7:35 — Vikings have the pick now. Twitter rumors say Toby Gerhart. ESPN showing him on TV.
7:31 — Texans are on the clock. We have to wait for a commercial break again. Texans go RB here or wait until third?
7:29 — Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama goes to the Chiefs. Like we said yesterday, CBs are rarely good fantasy plays in IDP. If you get points for his returns, apparently, he might be worth a pick.
7:28 — Chiefs pick is in.. We’re waiting. O-line?
7:23 — 49ers just picked Taylor Mays, S, USC. Who’s surprised he fell this far? Who’s still talking about Jimmy Clausen? I thought so.
7:19 — Jimmy Clausen, QB, ND — Smurfette to some — selected by the Carolina Panthers. He could start this year, and they get him in the middle of the second-round. That’s some value. Will he be hard to sign? Does he have any leverage in that fight? Discuss in the comments.
7:18 — Panthers pick is in… QB?
7:15 — TCU LB Daryl Washington goes to the Cardinals. Fast and furious picks here.
7:14 — Linval Joseph, DT, picked by the Giants… He’s not even on my list.
7:13 — Cardinals are picking after the Giants. It was the Patriots pick. Clausen’s long, cold wait coming to an end?
7:11 — Picks are flying in… Giants are already ready. Ugh, but they’re waiting for an ESPN commercial.
7:09 — Broncos take Zane Beadles, OG, Utah. Getting the line together for when Tebow’s ready, that’s all.
7:06 — Raiders pick Lamarr Houston. Did he sleep in the Green room last night?
7:05 — Sergio Kindle, LB, Texas picked by the Ravens. If he’s as good as these clips on ESPN, I’d say he’ll have some IDP value this season.
7:03 — For what it’s worth. The Sporting News has Gronkowski as the No. 1 TE.
7:01 — Patriots pick tight end Rob Gronkowski, TE, Arizona. Some early mocks had him going in the first round. Instant fantasy value in New England.
7:00 –Patriots have to wait for ESPN to switch over to The Deuce.
6:57 — Ravens trade up for this spot. Looking ahead, Patriots, Panthers, 49ers and Chiefs will pick both QBs within next 9 picks… Patriots just traded with the Ravens for this spot. Spikes or one of the QBs?
6:51 — Torell Troup, DT, Central Florida goes to Buffalo. So, who thinks Clausen jumps off a bridge tonight?
6:48 — Is Brandon Spikes dead? In jail?
6:46 — Fast and furious with the picks here. Dolphins pick announced by Dan Marino — to a chorus of boos from Jets fans. Miami picks Koa Misi, OLB, Utah.
6:45 — Raiders trade pick to Buccaneers, who pick Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois. They did that to make Mel Kiper happy.
6:44 — Tampa Bay’s pick is in. ESPN is showing Arrelious Benn wearing a Buccaneers hat.
6:40 — Cleveland’s pick: T.J. Ward, DB, Oregon.
6:37 — Browns are on the clock. They HAVE to pick McCoy or Clausen, right?
6:33 –There it is. The Eagles traded Donovan McNabb for DB Nate Allen. Any opinions out there on this pick, trade, thing?
6:31 — I thought the Eagles would take McCluster with this pick (the player they traded Donovan McNabb for). Feel like they need to take a skill player. If they take an OT that busts, Philly fans might burn down some houses.
6:30 — Did Mel Kiper just say he didn’t think they should use that guy on returns? That’s nuts.
6:29 — Dexter McCluster, RB/WR, picked by Chiefs. That just ticked off a handful of teams who probably thought they’d get him later.
6:28 — Chiefs take all the time too. Everybody wants to trade these picks. I have a feeling nobody actually wants to pick Clausen or McCoy.
6:23 — Mel Kiper is talking down the pick because they picked McCoy in the first. If they think Price is the best player available, why not take him.
6:21 — Brian Price considered a first-rounder by many. DT picked by the Buccaneers.
6:18 — If you didn’t check out our forums after that ridiculous Round 1 yesterday I have two words for you: Buffalocat and Wildbuffalo. You should check our forums. Just saying.
6:16 — Minnesota picks Chris Cook, CB, Virginia. Hey, think they’ll be able to stop the Saints in 2010? How much can he upgrade Vikings DEF/ST?
6:11 — Clausen or McCoy here makes sense. Favre’s not going to keep coming back… Scratch that. What do the Vikings need?
6:09 — Groans from the crowd, awesome. Rodger Saffold, OT, goes to the Rams. It’s not like the Rams have an all All-Pro line. ESPN folks are saying he could have been a first-rounder.
6:09 — Guest beat me to the trade prediction. nfl.com says pick’s in.
6:07 — Rams are using all of this time to make a trade, right?
6:05 — A little out of sorts. Sorry for any funk you may experience here in the first 20 minutes or so… The Rams are officially on the clock as pick 33 (2.01). Any thoughts on who they’ll pick? Let us know in the comments — no signup required, just an email and a nickname. Join our conversation. We were 133 strong in the comments last night.
6:01 –… And just made it.
