2011 Fantasy football | Chinstrap Ninjas fantasy football contest Week 1 results, Week 2 lineups
I don’t even have to begin to describe how zany a week this was.
Only two teams scored any points this week and not one of us sniffed a tough-luck award. Better luck to us all next week. As usual, post your Week 2 lineups in the comments. Next week has to be more normal. Right?
Only one correct player was chosen by contest participants this week, the New England Patriots’ Tom Brady.
Both Team Name Here and Rockchalk started Brady at quarterback, earning five points each.
Consider the race on. They are the teams with the targets on their backs.
Taking a closer look at the selections this week reveals some interesting stuff. Blernsball Allstars and Tom Hagen each started Beanie Wells and Brandon started DeAngelo Williams.
Straying from the Adrian Peterson/Jamaal Charles consensus was a smart move considering the way the week played out.
Todd Heap, started by Rockchalk, Brandon Pettigrew, started by Tom Hagen, and Brandon Lloyd, started by Brandon and Oops Machine, were also deviations from the crowd.
Blernsball and Krause also deviated at quarterback, each choosing Matthew Stafford, who had nearly 300 yards at halftime but didn’t produce much in the second half. 69ers threw Kevin Kolb out there at quarterback. Another good move. Kolb didn’t disappoint. However, he couldn’t compete with the jaw-dropping numbers put up by quarterbacks like Chad Henne and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
This week’s top performers:
Quarterback
On the Monday Night Football stage, all other quarterbacks were rendered mere mortals this week. Brady threw for 517 yards and four touchdown to pace the fantasy football world this week with a whopping 35 fantasy points. Henne, who was trying to go toe-to-toe with the Patriots star, scored just half a point less. He threw for 416 and two touchdowns and rushed for 59 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Running backs
Mike Tolbert was a mid-round pick who produced better than most first-rounders in week one. The San Diego running back only had 35 yards rushing on 12 carries, but he scored a touchdown. Tolbert also added a 9-58 day as a receiver, hauling in two other TDs to pace the running backs. Ray Rice, who had a terrific game, trailed Tolbert by just .4 points, 27.3-26.9. Rice finished with 107 yards and a touchdown rushing and 42 yards and a touchdown receiving.
Wide receivers
Is the Panthers’ Steve Smith back? It sure looked it Sunday. Smith caught eight throws for 178 yards and two touchdowns to score 29.8 points and lead all receivers. Wes Welker, Brady’s prime target Monday night, hauled in eight throws for 160 yards and two scores for a runner-up 28.0 points.
Tight ends
It wasn’t Antonio Gates or Jason Witten or even Aaron Hernandez who led the tight end brigade this week. Nope, it was Fitzpatrick’s new favorite goal-line receiver Scott Chandler. Chandler made five receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns to score 18.3 points. Hernandez trailed Chandler, going 7-103-1 for 16.3 fantasy points.

In the comments, post who you think will be the best quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end in Week 2. Remember, only the best player at each position is worth five points. Good luck.
