2011 Offseason team needs: AFC West
This is a continuation of our series in looking at the 2011 off season team needs. This time we look at the AFC West.
Denver Broncos
QB- Tim Tebow
RB- Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter
WR- Brandon Lloyd, Eddie Royal, Demaryius Thomas
TE- Daniel Graham
Needs – complimentary running back, tight end
My personal feeling on Tim Tebow is you drafted him in the first round for a reason last year. He is your guy for the next several seasons for better or worse. Correll Buckhalter may not even be retained. A back like John Clay or Bilal Powell which is more of a power back would be ideal for them as a change of pace from Knowshon Moreno. The team could definitely upgrade at tight end over Daniel Graham.
San Diego Chargers
QB- Philip Rivers
RB-Ryan Mathews, Mike Tolbert, Darren Sproles
WR- Vincent Jackson, Malcom Floyd
TE- Antonio Gates
Needs – tight end
You say how can they need a tight end when they have one of the best in the business in Gates. Well Gates has been banged up quite a bit over the past few years and is starting to show his age. It may be time to get some new receiving blood at the position to help keep Gates fresh throughout the season. So long as the Chargers sign their potential free agents in VJax and Sproles, they are fine at the other positions.
Kansas City Chiefs
QB- Matt Cassel
RB- Jamaal Charles, Thomas Jones
WR- Dwayne Bowe, Dexter McCluster
TE- Tony Moeaki
Needs – another wide receiver
The team has a nice young nucleus in Cassel, Charles, Bowe, and Moeaki. They just need to add another receiving threat on the other side of Bowe to become an overpowering offense.
Oakland Raiders
QB- Jason Campbell
RB- Darren McFadden, Michael Bush???
WR- Louis Murphy, Darrius Heyward-Bey
TE- Zach Miller
Needs – wide receivers
Campbell is adequate at quarterback so long as he has some decents wide receivers of which the Raiders have none. That’s why Zach Miller leads them in receptions. If Michael Bush is retained, then the running back group will be a team strong point in 2011.
