2011 Week 1: Favorable Matchups based on Fantasy Points Against

Last year yours truly was one of the first in the industry to provide you with weekly fantasy points against stats so that you could be more informed on start/sit decisions.  Now that everyone has caught onto that bandwagon, I intend on leaving them to do the hard leg work in producing the raw data.

Here at Chinstrap Ninja’s we will list who you should be starting based on the analyzed data.

Who should I start at flex? 1 pt ppr, every 20 yds, 6 pt. td.
Amendola, mike Thomas, or aj green?

  2. Sockonfl

I would start Amendola as both Thomas and Green have shaky quarterback situations at best for week 1.

  3. MoHawks

For my flex spot who would you start,

League 1, Reggie Bush or Ryan Matthews 1 pt PPR

League 2, Pierre Thomas or Ryan Matthews 0.5 pt PPR,

    Thoughts??

  4. Sockonfl

For League 1 I would go with Reggie Bush as Sparano has said he will be getting the bulk of the carries at least early on. Plus Reggie faces the eighth best favorable matchup as noted above.

For League 2 the decision is a little harder. The Saints go up against Green Bay who had a fairly stout run defense last year. But I see Ryan Mathews sharing time with Tolbert all year. Thomas is supposed to get the majority of the carries early on as they ease Mark Ingram into the Saints style of play. I would start Pierre Thomas in League 2.

Hey guys… this is great info. A couple of questions… who do you think I should start at QB?

    Schaub or Sanchez?

Also, at the flex, who would you guys take – Reggie Bush or Cedric Benson?

Standard league, no PPR, 1 pt/ 25yds pass, and 1pt/10 yds rush

  6. Sockonfl

Even though Sanchez has the second most favorable I would still start Schaub in what should be a statement game versus the Colts. At the running back slot I would go with Reggie Bush as he has eighth best matchup. I have never been sold on Cedric Benson. Plus the Bengals will have rookie Dalton at quarterback, so the defense will focus on shutting down Benson and make Dalton beat them.

  7. Chris

Should I start antonio gates versus the vikings or desean jackson versus the rams for a write/te slot?

  8. Sockonfl

Chris first I want to come and join your league. That is unbelievable to be choosing between DeSean Jackson and Antonio Gates at flex. That being said the Philly offensive line has looked horrible all preseason. I am not sure Vick will have time to throw the ball deep to Jackson. I would start Gates early until Howard Mudd gets that offensive line to gel a little bit.

  9. Sergio

Who should I start at QB, Sam Bradford vs Philly or Jason Campbell @ Denver? Thanks!

  10. Sockonfl

Sergio, Campbell has the sixth most favorable matchup and Bradford has the seventh most favorable matchup. That is only decimals apart on the fantasy points against scale. This probably goes against the grain of most logic because Bradford certainly is the better talent, but looking closely at the matchups this week, Steven Jackson should be able to run wild on the inexperienced linebacking of Philadelphia. Plus they will also want to run the football to run the clock and keep the ball out of Philly’s offense hands. As crazy as it sounds I would start Campbell over Bradford in this one particular instance.

Cool, thanks….i was thinking the same about Rams wanting to get their running game going…..oh what about Miles Austin or Hines Ward? Thinking of starting Ward cause I’m assuming the Jets will put Revis on Austin…..your thoughts? Thanks again for the help

  12. Sockonfl

Sorry Sergio, I replied earlier in the night but for some reason my comment didn’t take. For the exact reason you said, Revis will be on Austin a lot so I would rather take my chances with Hines Ward.
