Once upon a time there wasn’t much offensive talent in this NFC North, now it boasts several fantasy studly stars. Here is our 2012 NFC North preview.
QB – Jay Cutler – Now that the Bears got some receiving weapons for Cutler it could be a lot more interesting year for him.
RB – Matt Forte/Michael Bush – You have to be a fool to believe that Bush won’t cut into the short yardage and goal line carries, because that was why Bush was brought in.
WR – Brandon Marshall/Alshon Jeffery/Devin Hester – Marshall and Jeffery are huge upgrades over previous receiving groups while Cutler has been in Chicago. The old Cutler to Marshall connection will be back at it again.
TE – Kellen Davis – Not expecting much out of Davis other than being a bye week filler in 2012.
QB – Matthew Stafford – Stafford is coming off a top five fantasy finish and I see no reason for him not to repeat seeing he has a more experienced Titus Young and Ryan Broyles to throw to now.
RB – Jahvid Best/Mikel Leshoure/Kevin Smith – If the Lions could keep a back on the field for an extended period without injury it would make for phenomenal fantasy points. Maybe draft all three and hope you get a decent year from the bunch.
WR – Calvin Johnson/Titus Young/Ryan Broyles/Nate Burleson – Calvin is probably the best WR in the game right now. Young and Broyles are definite up and comers. Burleson can hold down the fort until Broyles is physically ready to play.
TE – Brandon Pettigrew – He’s in the top 15-20 of tight end’s but just not sure he should be a starter for you.
Green Bay Packers
QB – Aaron Rodgers – No discount double check when it comes to his abilities as a passer. He is probably the best in the game at QB.
RB – James Starks/Alex Green – Starks figures to be given the lead role here but he has been injury riddled throughout his career which could open the door for Green down the line.
WR – Greg Jennings/Jordy Nelson/Donald Driver/James Jones – You truthfully don’t get a much better receiving group than this in fantasy. Greg Jennings has always produced at studly levels throughout his career.
TE – Jermichael Finley – A guy that has all the talent in the world yet he still doesn’t produce at high levels. Perhaps because there are only so many balls to go around in GB.
QB – Christian Ponder – Ponder enters his second season at the helm in Minnesota. He is a bye week filler quarterback only.
RB – Adrian Peterson/Toby Gerhart –I really think Adrian is trying to rush back too quickly from a really severe knee injury. The Vikings would be wise to start him on PUP to start the season and see how it goes from there. You better have Gerhart in your pocket if you own Peterson in 2012.
WR – Percy Harvin/Jerome Simpson – Harvin is quickly becoming one of the better receivers in the league. It will be interesting to see what Simpson adds to the mix after his mini suspension.
TE – Kyle Rudolph/John Carlson – Carlson was at Notre Dame the first year Rudolph came to town. Rudolph should see more receptions out of the two though.
