In our fantasy football championship week, eight quarterbacks are projected to throw at least 2.0 touchdown passes.
This could be a big week in fantasy. Today’s quarterbacks, Mark Sanchez, Robert Griffin III, Colin Kaepernick and Philip Rivers are interesting as well.
Let’s start there because those games kick off in a couple hours. We have Sanchez as the top play, but Griffin is close. The Eagles have given up 252 rushing yards to quarterbacks this season, the fourth-most in the NFL.
I have a couple daily fantasy lineups and I’m going to have a little more Sanchez in them, but Griffin will probably be my second most used QB.
With the running backs dinged up, it might finally be Kaepernick time. It’s risky, but any quarterback that can run for two touchdowns has sneaky huge upside.
Rivers has the worst matchup of the bunch against the 49ers. With his running backs banged up I could see a game script where he has to throw more than our projected 32 attempts, but Rivers isn’t 100 percent healthy right now either.
There are a lot of things going on this week. Jimmy Clausen is starting for the Bears. If he wasn’t facing the Lions, I’d recommend him wholeheartedly because of Chicago’s weapons and Marc Trestman. Instead I’m going to recommend starting the Detroit defense.
Case Keenum is starting in Houston, that doesn’t sound like much, especially with Deandre Hopkins likely to miss the game. The Ravens have been susceptible to passers, but they are also good at pressuring them. That’s not a good place to be for a quarterback like Keenum. I can’t recommend starting him in your championship game, but I might add him to a $1 daily lineup. His price will allow you to put together a better lineup.
Cam Newton is likely going to play with a broken back following his car crash a week ago. There are a handful of other quarterbacks with probable tags like Newton — Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Tony Romo. This is championship week. Things can take a bad turn in pre-game warmups. If you’re starting any of them in your championship game, have a backup plan in place.
