If you want to start our top team defense this week, you better hurry and set your lineup soon because that game starts at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Eagles defense’s 2014 season is going to be remembered as the one where they scored all of the touchdowns. They have an absurd number of scores this season and changed the fate of many fantasy games, both in season-long and in the fantasy realm.
If you’re streaming defense for your championship week it’s unlikely you’ll find them on the waiver wire. It’s worth checking.
While they aren’t ranked as high — remember, our projections are based almost purely on statistics — you should consider starting the Carolina defense, against Johnny Manziel in his second start. Manziel was woeful in his first start. I don’t know if you saw my retweet of the photo of him trying to hand the ball off to the wrong side. Carolina’s defense is actually better now than it was earlier in the season too.
Arizona doesn’t make a lot of mistakes, but they’re also on their third-string quarterback. And they’re facing the Seattle Seahawks. Our projections machine spit out a 30 next to the Super Bowl Champions defensive ranking this week. I have a feeling they’re going to be way better than that against Ryan Lindley and company.
The Ravens defense is another defense ranked low (22nd) who could far outperform expectations. They face Case Keenum, who replaced Tom Savage, who replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick, who replaced Ryan Mallet who replaced Fitzpatrick. Also DeAndre Hopkins is out and the Ravens have been pretty good at stopping the run, which means they could take some shine off the Texans’ lone potential bright spot, Arian Foster.
