It’s not quite as bad as it is in the running backs ranks, but there should be a bit of variance this week at the wide receiver position.
The Colts expect Reggie Wayne back, but that’s a Monday night game so we may not know for sure until it’s too late for you to sub in anyone of any worth. Monitor the situation closely if you’re a Wayne or Donte Moncrief owner. Moncrief has certainly earned more opportunities, but if Wayne plays it should lower Moncrief’s floor expectation.
T.Y. Hilton has emerged as a stud and may even be able to overcome the teams-need-to-create-touches-in-space-for-smaller-wide-receivers stigma.
Similarly, if A.J. Green plays it should decrease Mohamed Sanu’s floor and ceiling a bit. He’ll probably play through pain all year. Green is dirt cheap for a player of his caliber at the daily sites. His toe isn’t healed, so he could last one series or could resemble the dominant Gree we all know. He’s about as boom-or-bust as you can get.
Speaking of boom or bust. I have both Dallas receivers in the top-10. We have two Dallas receivers in the top-10. These projections have yet to get two wide receivers from the same team in the top 10 correct. I don’t think the projections for either player are out of the realm of possibility, it’s just unlikely they both reach ceiling status.
There are a lot of guys, like Green, with their playing status up in the air this week. Don’t start somebody questionable Thursday if you can’t change the lineup later. Monitor their status before game time and have a backup plan.
Let’s get to the projections.

These projections are on a Google Doc. They update whenever I make changes. The final ranking may not always reflect the discussion above.
