Seeking awesome fantasy team names

We’re working on a cool new project and we need help from the Ninja Army.

In the comments, please post the favorite fantasy team name you’ve ever used and the favorite one you’ve ever seen used by an opponent.

If you remember, please specify if the name was used in a fantasy baseball or a fantasy football league.

Letter from the editors: Hey Ninjas, you rock to a power beyond classification

This community rocks so hard that we couldn’t turn our amps up to 11. We’d have to find one that goes to 111.

You guys are so awesome that we have to invent a new scale to measure your awesome. And that new scale needs a new word.  My vote goes to Ultramegatacular. Continue reading ‘Letter from the editors: Hey Ninjas, you rock to a power beyond classification’

The Holy Grail, fantasy league bring the baseball soul back to life

Editor’s note: Scott’s fantasy baseball origin story is, hopefully, the first post of many by him here at www.chinstrapninjas.com. Scott is a good friend and an esteemed sports journalist who has decided to join our ranks. Please welcome him with applause and comments.

The Holy Grail, I was reminded time and again, stood 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and 180 pounds.

Impressive size for a grail, I’m guessing. Not so much for the best player in baseball.

Yet his was the name we were anxiously waiting to see, huddled around our computer screens.

We were told to covet him, so we did. Continue reading ‘The Holy Grail, fantasy league bring the baseball soul back to life’

Three great, but declining, running backs are looking for work

For any fantasy football general manager from the 2000s, it has been an unusual seven days.

LaDainian Tomlinson — one of the best running backs of all time — Brian Wesbrook — the greatest Eagles running back of all time — and Thomas Jones — who is 190 yards behind Earl Campbell on the all-time rushing leaders list — were all released by their respective 2009 teams, beginning with LT last Monday. Well, Jones’ release isn’t official yet, but it will be this week.

The Chinstrap Ninjas believed that Westbrook and Jones, who were still under contract with the Eagles and Jets respectively, would remain with their teams and retain a large portion of carries. We were wrong. Continue reading ‘Three great, but declining, running backs are looking for work’

Fantasy Baseball: Taveras trade a vote of confidence for Stubbs

Reading the Associated Press story about Willy Taveras‘ trade from Cincinnatti to the Athletics last night was kind of funny.

Among other things, they claim the Reds left themselves without a leadoff hitter and highlighted Taveras at the top of the story.

Once they acquired him, the As promptly designated the great speedster Taveras to start the season elsewhere. They were more concerned about getting utility infielder Adam Rosales. Continue reading ‘Fantasy Baseball: Taveras trade a vote of confidence for Stubbs’

Ninjas, turn your TVs on!

Just an FYI, we got an e-mail at the Chinstrap Ninjas offices today informing us that SportsNation, 4 p.m. eastern on ESPN2, chose the site to be in their A Site We Like segment.

I’m sure most of you have seen the show before, astute sports fans that you are, but if you haven’t there’s no better time to tune in than today.

Oh, and while I have your ears, eyes rather, jzak is being secretive about this fantasy baseball article he’s writing. Be excited, because I am. Also talked to Jay-Mo today. He promised a football playoffs article tonight or tomorrow. If you read his last article, you know the goodness that awaits.
