Chinstrap Ninjas fantasy football contest: Super Bowl results
Congratulations to our champion L’Inconnue, who turned this thing into a no-doubter this week by scoring a record-breaking total of 46 points.
RockChalk‘s unique lineup earned him 45 points, the second-highest point total in league history.
We nuked our previous league record total for points in a week and every team at least scored 18 points. Needless to say, the rankings below L’Inconnue were shaken up a bit.
L’Inconnue, who has been posting with us since Week 6 and scoring since Week 7, scored 86 points in the playoffs, the third-most in the contest. He finished with 131 points to set the standard for all Ninjas readers of the future.
Dante Bruno, who scored first points of the season in Week 17, scored the most points in the playoffs to finish in second place overall with 109 points. Bruno scored 94 playoff points to lead all players.
With us since the beginning, Krause made the most of the playoffs by scoring 80 points to move into third overall with 105 points.
With an unconventional lineup, including top wide receiver Jordy Nelson, Rockchalk went big this week to finish with 76 playoff points and take fourth place overall with 96 points.
Rounding out our overall top-5, Consigliere scored 58 in the playoffs and 17 this week to finish with 83 total points.
Our other playoff participants jumped up the leaderboard considerably over the final few weeks. Each team finished in the top-12 overall. You’ve Ben Violated scored 54 points and finish seventh overall, Gridiron Wife scored 54 to move into 10th. Cartisimo scored 33 to finish eighth overall. Monk scored 32 to finish ninth overall. Super Friends added 30 points through the playoffs to finish just out of the top five at sixth overall and jzak scored 21 to take 12th place.
League performance this week set the bar for points scored with an impressive 269 and set our Season I point total at 1,313. Let’s shatter that next year.
Congratulations to L’Inconnue, all of our champions, and all of our players. The Wall of Champions will be built very soon and linked to from the front page.
Thanks for making the contest awesome, and as Dante Bruno suggested, we’ll try out a chat box during games next year.
This week’s top performers:
Quarterback
Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger put up the most and third-most points on Super Bowl Sunday. Rodgers threw for more than 300 yards and threw three touchdown passes to notch 23.96 points. Roethlisberger threw two picks, but ran for 31 yards and finished with 19.62 points.
Running back
As Dante Bruno pointed out in the comments of the SB picks post, James Starks looked awesome, running at a 4.7 per carry clip. It wasn’t enough to top Rashard Mendenhall, who was fed the ball a few more times and got into the endzone. Despite a lost fumble, Mendenhall still finished with 11 points. Our runner-up, Starks, scored 5.2.
Wide receiver
The biggest surprise of the week, Jordy Nelson was targeted 15 times and caught nine of them for 140 and a score. The 20 fantasy points were enough for him to edge teammate Greg Jennings, who scored a pair of TDs, and enough to be the second-highest point-scorer in the Super Bowl. Jennings finished fourth in that race with 18.4 points.
Tight end
Our tight ends fizzled at the end of the season, with Heath Miller “leading” the way with 12 yards and 1.2 fantasy points. Andrew Quarless was even more disappointing with 0.5 points, losing out on tough luck status to Matt Spaeth, who had one catch for nine yards and 0.9 fantasy points.

This was a blast. Let’s all do it again next year in Season II.

Congrats L’Inconnue. I’m already missing fantasy football. Hope to see you all next year!
[...] else, I am going to review the rules right now. After I’m done, check out last year’s season finale, which reviews our rules, gives more examples about how the contest works and congratulates 2010 [...]
