I’m quite short on time today but I wanted to get something out there.
Yesterday was a pretty good day that was a few late Mariners runs from being even better. My top pitching duo was Jacob deGrom, who went nuts, and Michael Pineda, who was also pretty stellar.
I don’t have enough time to do as much research today, but here are the pitchers and hitters I’ll be using most in today’s games:
Noah Syndergaard, $8,100 — After de Grom’s gem yesterday, the Padres are still one of the strikingoutenest teams in baseball.
Max Scherzer, $12,000 — Tough to get value out of the most expensive player on the slate, which is the only reason he’s listed so low.
Johnny Cueto, $10,400 — The Phillies are still terrific — to play your pitchers against.
Chris Archer, $8,900 — Struck out 12 and scored 40.8 fantasy points his last game. Has scored at least 20.5 fantasy points in each of his last four starts. The Angles have the fifth-worst OPS against right handed pitchers this season.
Chris Heston, $5,300 — I try to give you one sleeper that costs about as much as an outfielder but could produce big dividends. Heston has been on the list a couple times. When he’s on he’s posted 43.6, 29.5 and 27.8 fantasy points. The other days, well, how about -3 fantasy points combined in his four most awful starts. When you start a $5,300 pitcher you’re buying a lottery ticket. Let’s hope he hits big.
The Dodgers, Braves and Tigers seem like decent stacking options.
Here are the position players I’m using most:
C – A.J. Pierszynski, Carlos Santana, Yasmani Grandal
1B – Paul Goldschmidt, Adrian Gonzalez, Ben Paulsen, Justin Bour (I have one lineup with both Scherzer and Cueto. Paulsen and Bour, at $3,200 each, provide a lot of salary relief at a position where you can’t normally find it.)
2B – Jace Peterson, D.J. LeMahieu, Justin Turner
3B – Evan Longoria, Alex Guerrero, Peterson, LeMahieu, Turner
SS – Andrelton Simmons, Johnny Peralta, Jose Reyes
OF – Joc Pederson, David Peralta, Guerrero, Charlie Blackmon, Mike Trout, Bryce Harper
Good luck today and every day
