Injuries played a part. having to play with no net (no talent in passing game). Oakland is a pit. Don't know if McFadden will ever break out.

Any thoughts on Darren McFadden?
So ironic to highlight Felix Jones, who was McFadden's backup for two years in college, as a potential elite RB.

I haven't seen much of McFadden, so I don't have a comfortable sense of what to make of him. Just curious as why he has seemingly dropped of the face of the fantasy world? Is Oakland that much of a pit?

ep,
Never crossed my mind how similar FJones is to Westbrook, too. Could be similar in that he should be a high risk, high reward type player. Owning him may require stocking up on Rolaids.

Socko,

Thanks for the comments. I agree that McCoy could shoot to the top of the class if given the opportunity. I just get a feeling that the Eagles won't be satisfied with him and Leonard Weaver as the primary ballcarriers. I agree that if they land someone like LaDanian Tomlinson or even if Brian Westbrook comes back for less money, that McCoy still will see more than enough carries to be effective. I worry, though, that the Eagles go after someone with more heft ... such as a Thomas Jones or even Marshawn Lynch (interesting that the Eagles have an excess of QBs and may want an RB while the Bills have an excess of potential starting RB and a real deficit at QB ... a Vick/Lynch trade??).

I'd put my money on Greene and Wells right now, too.

The thing that hit me while reading was how much Felix Jones sounds like Brian Westbrook.

Westbrook split time with Duce Staley, Dorsey Levens, Brian Mitchell and Correll Buckhalter to start. He returned punts and had Y/C and Y/R that pointed toward future breakout potential. He also got injured in his rookie season and never played a full 16 games for the Eagles.

But through all the heartburn Westbrook brought on fantasy owners, he also flat out won fantasy games with his skills when healthy.

I agree with your comparison of Shonn Greene to Michael Turner. He will become an elite back in 2010. He is obviously a better commodity in a non ppr league than in a ppr league.

The Eagles are looking for a back in short yardage situations to make first downs and move the chains. Lynch is a possibility, especially if the Bills decide to trade for Vick. Lynch would certainly hurt McCoy's value for awesomeness. If they get a veteran back like LT, than I could see McCoy developing into a PPR stud. The jury is still out on McCoy until we see who his running mate will be in 2010.

Felix Jones reminds me of how Julius Jones was his first few years in Dallas. He had all the potential in the world and had nice YPC and TD numbers, but could never put together a decent season due to injuries. I don't think Felix will be elite and will be stuck in his 3 man RBBC for a bit.

Beanie Wells posted solid numbers in the second half on the season last year. I also believe they will need to lean more on the running game with Leinart under center and probably Boldin gone from the receiving corp. He could be in line to rank in the top 6-10 backs for years to come.

Those are the backs I see as potential elite options out of the group listed.
