Fantasy football 2011 | Chinstrap Ninjas fantasy football contest Week 6 results, Week 7 lineups

Welcome to the jungle, Ninjas.

The league posted our highest point total of the year this week, awarding 94 points to 12 different teams. We also had our first triple of the year.

As always, read on to find out what happened in the league or skip to the comments and post your lineups for Week 7.

As Dante Bruno explained following Sunday’s contests, it was a crazy week with lots of teams getting into the overall points race.

Super Friends owner Jaime deserves the biggest nod. He earned our first triple of 2011, playing Aaron Rodgers, Ahmad Bradshaw and Jimmy Graham to earn 15 points and 10 bonus points for a whopping 25-point week. He leapt to the top of the October and overall leaderboards.

Three other teams, Cartisimo, Tom Hagen and Gridiron Assassins, played Rodgers and Graham to score 15 points each and really give us a tight battle for the top nine spots on the overall leaderboard.

Graham was the biggest point-earner this week. Seven teams started the New Orleans tight end, including MoHawks, Dante Bruno, Krause and the teams mentioned above.

Team Name Here played Aaron Rodgers to round out our normal scoring.

However, four teams started Jason Witten, one of two tight ends with tough-luck status this week. Dr. Zoidberg, Brandon, inthewhale and LOL Cats all played the Cowboys’ TE and earned a point.

The league performance was not only the best so far this year, it nearly doubled our overall production. Teams had accumulated 98 points in the first five weeks and posted 94 in Week 6.

There were several really awesome plays in Week 6. I really liked how Krause mixed two safe plays, in Graham and Drew Brees, with two wild cards like Peyton Hillis and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

It didn’t pay off, but Rockchalk had the same strategy, starting Ben Watson and Cedric Benson along with Brees and Wes Welker.

Chickenheads & Pigeons started Eli Manning and A.J. Green. Dr. Zoidberg also made Green a start.

Brandon‘s decision to start Ryan Torain yielded no points, but based on Torain’s performance last game and the defense he was up against, that was a solid pick.

One team, Schizophrenic Smurfs, started Torrey Smith. Smith went from his huge game to being blanketed by Darrelle Revis to bye week. Smith has superstar potential. Another nice play.

Purple Coconuts telegraphed the Chris Cooley injury and started Fred Davis.

Lot’s of great plays this week and lots of points scored, let’s keep it going for next week.

Top performers:

Quarterbacks

Another week, another 300-yard, 3-TD performance for Aaron Rodgers. The Packers QB led all quarterback with 23.9 fantasy points. Matthew Stafford‘s nine rushing yards were enough to push him past Josh Freeman in a tight race for runner-up. Stafford scored 20.62 fantasy points and Freeman scored 20.42.

Running backs

Ahmad Bradshaw racked up 130 yards from scrimmage and three TDs in the Giants win over Buffalo. He scored 31.0 fantasy points to pace the running backs. In a different week, Michael Turner‘s impressive 139-yard, two TD performance would have been enough to earn top-back status. Instead, he was our runner-up this week with 26.7 points.

Wide receivers

Some controversial happenings in the receiver ranks this week. I never realized that ESPN’s scoring awards skill players for return TDs. It is certainly rare that it will come into play, but Devin Hester scored on a long catch and on a long kick return. He also added 91 yards receiving. I could see this popping up again, so we’re all going to have to make a decision. I manually calculate all of the numbers (to get the fractional numbers) so it will be easy for me to either keep return TDs or eliminate them. Please respond in the comments which way we should go. With the return scoring, Hester scored 21.1 points and led the receivers. Without it, he scored 15.1 and did not maintain runner-up status. Marques Colston scored 17.8 points and would have led if not for the Hester snafu. Colston caught seven passes for 118 yards and a score. Jordy Nelson was next in line, catching two passes for 104 yards, a touchdown and 16.4 fantasy points.

Tight end

It is doubtful Jimmy Graham will give up his spot as an owner favorite and point-scorer in the contest any time soon. On Sunday, Graham caught seven passes for 124 yards to score 12.4 fantasy points. A fumble cost Aaron Hernandez the top spot this week. He caught a eight passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. He finished with 10.8 fantasy points. Jason Witten, who also scored 10.8 points, caught four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown.

In the comments, post who you think will be the best quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end in Week 7. Remember, only the best player at each position is worth five points. But there are massive bonus points for getting more than one pick correct. Good luck.

Awe Nuts, all weekend I thought I had Rodgers as my top QB, I should have known Romo wasn’t going to pull it off and step up in a big game.
Next weeks line up coming soon…

I’d vote to count the return TD’s and any other official TD’s/2 point conversions a player may score (ie recovering a fumble in the end zone…fluke yes, but still a TD)

  4. Brandon

I vote that if a game is played on a Monday night when its the second full moon of the month than 2 point conversions are worth 3 points….
In other words once in a blue moon, or maybe twice!

  22. DanteBruno

P.S. I really did think that Chris was going to have a big day. AF was my second pick…. Not my year..

  23. DanteBruno

LOL I picked AP, I am losing my mind or whats left of it..
