Brandon Marshall was traded to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round draft pick this year and one next year.
Here are some potential ramifications from a fantasy standpoint:
Chad Henne: Well since you can throw the ball anywhere near him and he will make the catch. This is a huge uptick in value. A great wide receiver is a quarterbacks best friend. Expect Henne to be in the top 15 as far as quarterbacks go and if they get a #2 wide out to emerge he could dabble in the top 10.
Brandon Marshall: Well Bill Parcells knows talent and he knows how to deal with people like Marshall. All the off the field issues aside, Marshall can flat out play and he will be a huge asset to the Dolphins. Once he gets his new contract he will be happy. He and Henne should create a rapport much like he had with Cutler. Expect standard Marshall lines, he will flirt with 100 catches and get right around 1200-1400 yards with 8-10 touchdowns.
Great move by the Dolphins they have acquired one of the most talented receivers in the league who is very young for two second round picks. Bill Parcells is good and he is showing it here. The dolphins are going to be a very competitive team.
The dismantling of the Shanny Broncos is almost complete. They have shipped their best player out of town for the second straight year. They will most likely select Dez Bryant in this years draft if he is still out there. If they choose to pass on Bryant they will be hurting at wide receiver.
Jabar Gaffney and Eddie Royal will both see a upward swing in value but at the same time they will not fill the void left by Marshall. Both will be ok fantasy options in the coming year, but with Orton or Quinn at the helm I wouldn’t count on them. They should both be low end WR2 or high WR3’s with good spot start value.
Marshall had to go. He and McDaniels did not get along and there was no way to fix what had been done. That being said the Broncos are hurting and need wide outs. They should select Dez Bryant in this coming draft, but with the rock headed nature of McDaniels I wouldn’t be surprised if this is happening all over again in a few years.
Bowlin should fire this guy ASAP before Clady and Dumervil both walk out the door for the same reason. Other than Morano I don’t see anyone on this team being worth a top 10 round pick in a redraft league … abandon ship.
