Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Wonders: Week 4

Here are this week’s recommended waiver wire adds:

{Note: Both quarterbacks are merely plug and play options for Week 4 as no QB stands out this week as a superior add}

Vince Young– Young has a matchup against Denver in Week 4.  They are yielding 24.33 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks through Week 3.  Plus Denver is only giving up 7.67 fantasy points per game to running backs.  All this means that Tennessee may have to go to the air to beat Denver next week.

Bruce Gradkowski – Gradkowski faces Houston in Week 4.  Houston is currently yielding 27 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.  That ties them with Jacksonville for worst in the NFL.

Running Back

Peyton Hillis – If you didn’t already pick up Peyton Hillis liked we recommended before Week 2, then you must try to add him this week.  Hillis in full starting role with Harrison injured clobbered the otherwise stout Ravens run defense for 144 yards rushing and a TD.  He also added 7 catches for 36 yards.   This will be the final week you see him on the wire, so add him if you can.

LaGarrette Blount – Blount only had 6 carries versus the Steelers, but he made them count.  He rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown in the game and ran hard on every carry.  Raheem Morris has said he wants to get him more involved in the offense moving forward.  If you have Kareem Huggins on your team I suggest you drop him for Blount now before he contributes on a larger scale.

Wide Receiver

Brandon Lloyd– Many people don’t realize it, but Brandon Lloyd is second in the NFL in receiving yards with 339 yards through 3 weeks of action.  He has also added 1 touchdown.  McDaniels seems to be molding the Broncos into a pass first team, so he could be a nice option moving forward.

Louis Murphy – I know I recommended him in this post last week.  I am doing it again this week.  In week 3 Murphy had 5 catches for 119 yards receiving.  The Raiders get a savory passing matchup against Houston in week 4, so look for Murphy to post another solid outing.

Tight End

Aaron Hernandez – I will probably continue to recommend Hernandez as a tight end add until he becomes a starter in most leagues.  He posted another 6 catches for 65 yards in Week 3.  He has been extremely consistent through the first few weeks and has found himself more and more on the field as the weeks go by.

Tony Scheffler – Another tight end add I recommended 2 weeks ago, Scheffler had 6 catches for 60 yards and a touchdown in Week 3.   He is a solid bye week fill in when you need one at TE.

Plug and Play Defense

Tennessee– The Titans play the Broncos in Nashville in what should be an excellent matchup for the Titan defense.  Tennessee is yielding the third fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks at 8 points per game.  With Moreno dinged, all the Broncos do is throw the football, which should play right into the Titans hands.
