The teams at the top of our rankings should not shock you.
The Dolphins face the Redskins. Even with Kirk Cousins taking over for Robert Griffin III we should probably expect a Dumpster fire until we see otherwise.
Same goes for Cleveland, who the Jets — and their revamped-to-awesome secondary — get to face in week 1.
The Seahawks are the gold standard for fantasy defenses currently and they face a St. Louis Rams offense that also qualifies as a Dumpster fire.
One of my targets in almost every draft were the Carolina Panthers. The face the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 1. The Jaguars showed signs of life this preseason. It’ll be interesting to see if they can claw their way out of the cellar and by how much. But in week 1, I’m still liking the Panthers against them.
Much like kickers, you’re probably going to start the defense you drafted no matter what I try to tell you. Hopefully, you have one of the top defenses on our board.
If you are wavering, please accept these rankings as our gift to you.
As with any rankings or advice, you want to check player statuses right up until game time. We’re never always right and players can be scratched from lineups unexpectedly.
