Final 2009 NFL Mock Draft

Final 2009 Mock Draft:

  1. Detroit – Matthew Stafford, QB Georgia - New logo, new face of the franchise
  2. St. Louis – Jason Smith, OT Baylor -Need repair along the line, Rams go with the more complete offensive tackle
  3. Kansas City – Aaron Curry, LB Wake Forest- Most complete player in the draft and safest pick, though Tyson Jackson rumored to go here too
  4. Seattle – Mark Sanchez, QB USC – This pick could change the whole draft if Hawks trade out but predicting they get no takers, leaving them with the best available player to be mentored by Hasselbeck
  5. Cleveland – B.J. Raji, DT Boston College – Someone to clog the trenches, though Browns need a pass rusher and may look at Tyson Jackson or snag Aaron Curry if he drops
  6. Cincinnati – Andre Smith, OT Alabama – Smith has plenty of off-the-field issues, what a better fit
  7. Oakland – Jeremy Maclin, WR Missouri – Speed, speed and more speed … Raiders could look to the line and grab Eugene Monroe
  8. Jacksonville – Michael Crabtree, WR Texas Tech – Another key trade spot, especially if Sanchez falls, but Crabtree is a great fit and best available player here
  9. Green Bay – Tyson Jackson , DE LSU – Best lineman projected to fit the Packers’ new 3-4 alignment
  10. San Francisco – Eugene Monroe, OT Virginia – Niners shocked Monroe fell in their lap but could snatch Crabtree if Jacksonville moves out of its position

  1. Buffalo – Michael Oher, OT Ole Miss – Bills need to fill a hole on the line with recent trade to the Eagles
  2. Denver – Brian Orakpo, DE Texas - Was a projected top five pick last week, Broncos glad he fell
  3. Washington – Brian Cushing, LB USC – Redskins finally make a solid pick, take the best pass-rushing linebacker in the draft
  4. New Orleans – Malcolm Jenkins, CB Ohio State – Saints have a dire need in the secondary, Jenkins could move to safety.  Beanie Wells would be great fantasy pick but this is the pros
  5. Houston – Clay Matthews Jr., LB USC - Uncle Bruce Matthews played for the Oilers and is now an executive with the Texans, too perfect of a fit to pass up
  6. San Diego – Beanie Wells, RB Ohio State - Great padding for the impending loss of Darren Sproles and the worn out tread on LT’s tires.
  7. NY Jets – Knowshon Moreno, RB Georgia – Jets may be silly and look at Josh Freeman but wise up and pick the best running back in the draft who can make an impact in the passing game too
  8. Denver – Peria Jerry, DT Ole Miss - A little light for a D-tackle but Broncos play a zone-blitzing scheme to fit his skills
  9. Tampa Bay – Josh Freeman, QB Kansas State – For some reason Bucs love this guy, even though there is a glaring need to add youth to the aging defense
  10. Detroit – Robert Ayers, DE Tennessee – Ayers will probably move to linebacker, fitting one of numerous needs for the new-look Lions
  11. Philadelphia – Donald Brown, RB UConn – Missed out on Moreno but end up with the better long-term pro
  12. Minnesota – Vontae Davis, CB Illinois – He is considered the best corner in the draft, though has plenty of mental issues
  13. Atlanta – Ziggy Hood, DT Missouri – Moving up on the draft board with impressive workouts, Falcons shore up its D-line here
  14. Miami – Rey Maualuga, LB USC – A gift for the Tuna, the second coming of Junior Seau
  15. Baltimore – Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR Maryland – Hometown boy with Olympic speed, Flacco has permanent smile on face
  16. Indianapolis – Everette Brown , DE Florida State – Great bookend for Dwight Freeney, bust beware
  17. Philadelphia – Hakeem Nicks, WR North Carolina – Solid hands, great size and good match with DeSean Jackson’s speed
  18. NY Giants – Kenny Britt, WR Rutgers – Another reunion in consecutive picks, Giants welcome him with open arms, unarmed of course
  19. Tennessee – Percy Harvin, WR Florida - Draft stock dropping because of pot issues but as long as he stays away from the strip clubs Titans don’t mind
  20. Arizona – Brandon Pettigrew, TE Oklahoma State - Need a running back and pass rusher, but his talents too good to pass up and Warner’s smile is bigger than Flacco’s
  21. Pittsburgh – Alphonso Smith, CB Wake Forest – He was once considered better than Vontae Davis, is much more consistent but short on size, doesn’t matter in the Steelers’ scheme, future all-pro here
