I love/hate waking up early Sunday morning to find out the latest NFL news.
This morning’s rumors/news includes: Gary Barnidge and Travis Benjamin are expected to be good to go. C.J. Anderson will be very limited if he plays. Rob Gronkowski will be good to go “if needed.” DeMarco Murray is the Eagles’ No. 4 running back. Jimmy Clausen is starting for Baltimore. Philip Rivers has a bad case of the flu. Eddie Lacy will by the Packers No. 1 running back.
When we already have fine news sites like Rotoworld.com it seems like a waste of time to go on too long about the news. You came here for rankings which have been sliding toward the boom-or-bust scale. As always you’ll want to check late NFL news at a site like Rotoworld to make sure games are being played and players are in lineups.
Our rankings are posted early Sunday and don’t always reflect final starting lineups.
I will reference Defense-adjusted Value Over Average a lot, it is a Football Outsiders’ metric which can be a better predictor of future success than fantasy points allowed. All team rankings and yards allowed to receivers are referenced fromFootball Outsiders’ Defense Efficiency page.
If you haven’t signed up for Draft Kings yet, consider this pretty sweet deal. If you sign up by using my personal affiliate link between now and Dec. 14 you get $25 Draft Kings bucks and I get $25 Draft Kings bucks to use in contests on the site. You can also click this link to help out Chinstrap Ninjas we get a few fractions of a cent when people click and a few cents when people sign up and deposit through that link, but there’s no $25 bonus for either of us there.
Thanks for considering and sorry for the sales pitch (even though it’s a pretty good deal).

FINAL Week 14 rankings
Use the tabs at the bottom to cycle through positions. Use the arrows at bottom right to find more positions.
Ben Roethlisberger skyrocketed up the rankings, as I predicted in our early rankings discussion. We still have Jameis Winston, Blake Bortles, Tyrod Taylor and Ryan Fitzpatrick ahead of guys like Andy Dalton, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady.
All of their matchups and/or situations are far more exciting. However, it is playoff season. You shouldn’t bench Dalton, Rodgers or Brady, I just don’t expect them to have the upside they normally have.
The running back rankings aren’t nearly as contrarian as the quarterbacks. Yeah, Shaun Draughn is, maybe, a little too high. Devonta Freeman could be too low, but generally speaking, they’re all right around where they should be, according to Fantasy Pros experts’ consensus rankings.
Matt Forte is a pretty big one though. The ECR has him seventh. We have him 14th. Even in your season-long league you may have some of the players above him. I’m not sure what to tell you. Forte looked great last week. I just fear this week will resemble the split with Jeremy Langford from two weeks ago — 12 carries for Langford and 15 for Forte.
This list isn’t super contrarian either, but we have Danny Amendola and Martavis Bryant ahead of Julio Jones.
The Falcons have been a disappointment for a couple weeks in a row. Meanwhile Amendola, if he plays, will be one of a few reliable targets Tom Brady has. Bryant is an insanely talented athlete and he has the benefit of Roethlisberger at quarterback and Antonio Brown across from him to draw away coverage.
As boring as our wide receivers list is, the tight ends are way worse. It’s difficult to get past the trio of Greg Olsen, Travis Kelce and Delanie Walker at the top. I think we should consider Julius Thomas, who we have fourth, among that group. He’s slightly higher than Tyler Eifert and Jordan Reed, who the experts have higher.
I really wanted to like Antonio Gates this week, with both Steve Johnson and Dontrelle Inman out — Javontee Herndon may start. I couldn’t bring myself to put him into any daily lineups, but I’m not going to tell you to not do it.
