While the rest of the world is “going green” these days, my fantasy baseball teams are “going Greene.”
As in Khalil Greene.
The St. Louis shortstop who recently came off the DL (anxiety disorders) and immediately made himself heard with .500 hitting (4-for-8), three home runs, four runs scored, five RBI and 14 total bases.
Greene was a chinstrap ninja sleeper heading into the season, mainly because he was finally away from the dreaded Petco Park and finally in a lineup that not only would give him more opportunities to hit the ball, but also to drive in runs. The added bonus for Greene at the moment is that he has now started four games in a row at third base – one game short of third base eligibility in all Yahoo leagues.
Of course, Greene has a history of inconsistency, and there is a good chance that he’ll hit a few dry spells the remainder of the season, but considering that he’s owned in just 22 percent of all Yahoo leagues, he’s definitely worth a flier.
I know that I’ll be going Greene in my fantasy leagues — especially with key injuries to Jose Reyes and Asdrubal Cabrera, respectively.
What about you? Will you be drinking the Khalil Greene Kool-Aid this summer? Why or why not?
