Individual defensive player (IDP) projections for Week 14

I say it every week and I’m going to keep saying it. Our individual defensive player projections are good, but they are not as well-manicured as the rest.

I don’t spend any time on matchups, looking up injured players or making sure players are still starting. They are weighted toward tackles, which are easier to predict.

If you see a player ranked high and he isn’t starting, it’s not that we have an inside scoop. Don’t play him. However, you might want to play his replacement because he’s likely to come close to matching the projected performance.

In some cases — Chris Borland — the backups can become a star.

There are a handful of defensive backs rated pretty highly. I don’t normally recommend playing DBs, but because of our tackle-weighted system, they are strong plays.
