Jermain Gresham, Aaron Hernandez top early 2010 consensus rookie tight end rankings

We conclude our early consensus rookie rankings with the tight end. Yep, not as exciting as the other positions, but every so often a talented TE makes a huge mark in fantasy football.

If Jermaine Gresham is healthy, he could be the next. Then again, Brent Celek was a fifth-rounder in 2007 and Antonio Gates was an undrafted free agent in 2003. They both turned out pretty well.

There are more fantasy football sleepers, surprises and rankings to come, but for now, check out our early 2010 rookie tight end rankings:

Some caveats:

  1. Our opinions certainly have changed to varying degrees since these rankings were completed in April
  2. They will change more as teams take the field for real training camp stuff (OTAs=fluff)
  3. Our database/layout is not as conducive to tables and lists as some. If you see any funkiness it could be based on browser type/iteration, screen size or my general ineptitude. Describe the funkiness for us in the comments. We’re contemplating options to alleviate this problem in the future.

Note that players are listed based on consensus ranking, but that each writer’s personal ranking is also included:

What did we miss? You going after Gresham? Jay-Mo already did in one league. You two should talk about it in the comments.

  1. Mike

Not sure we’ll see much production out of any rookie TE this year. Will Cincy FINALLY involve a TE in their offense?

@Mike: Good point. I’m trying to remember the last time a tight end who was picked high in the draft actually made a significant fantasy impact in his rookie season.

    Jeremy Shockey, maybe?
