I’m sure there are many of you out there that have at least heard of Desmond Jennings, one of the Tampa Bay Rays top outfield prospects.
The speedster was promoted to triple-A Durham on Friday, so he’s knocking on the doorstep of the majors. And, he’s knocking very loudly.
In double-A, he posted a .316, 8 homer, 45 RBI, 35 SB line before moving up. In his first AAA game, Jennings was 2-for-4 and, not surprisingly, stole a base.
If his minor league numbers continue to improve as he matures, we’re looking at a potential fantasy stud in the vein of Carl Crawford.
Based on his career minor league statistics across all leagues, he looks like he could be a .310 hitter, score 100 runs, rap 25-30 doubles, 5-10 triples, 8-15 homers, 50-60 RBIs and steal 30-40 bases.
Jennings bats right, throws right, is 6-foot, 2-inches and weighs 180 pounds. He was born in October 1986, making him 22 at the time of this post. He was drafted in the 10th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft, according to his profile at baseball-reference.com.
Fantasy GMs, especially those Ninjas in dynasty/keeper leagues, should monitor his progress in triple-A and pick him up when he becomes available in your fantasy provider’s database.
