While most every fantasy football redraft league isn’t thinking about a draft until later in the summer, many dynasty leagues are starting their respective rookie drafts now that the dust has settled from the official 2009 NFL Draft.
As a frequenter of the fantasy football cafe website, I noticed a pretty cool activity where they encourage viewers to pick and then defend their pick in a mock rookie draft. Votes are then tallied and an overall projected rookie draft is developed.
I started the process here. Please get involved. We’ll start with the first overall pick in a made-up standard-scoring 12-team fantasy league. This will be based on who you think will produce the best in the next five to six years. Every 48 hours, we’ll end the voting, make the official announcement of who won, and then move on to the second overall fantasy rookie draft pick. Make sure that after you vote, to leave a comment on why you picked player X. Also, encourage your friends to participate. The more votes and comments we get, the better overall projection we’ll see from the results.
For example, the cafe’s first overall pick thread voting (accessed here) finished with the following results: Chris “Beanie” Wells won with 19 votes (out of 49), beating out Knowshon Moreno (14), Michael Crabtree (9), Donald Brown (6) and Jeremy Maclin (1)
