It’s Monday, You’ve just stumbled into work. There’s no way you’re ready to do actual work, so instead you decide to surf the Web.

Sound familiar? Thought so. Luckily, you and I are having this conversation because if you want to waste a few minutes — an hour if the boss comes in a little later than you — we’ve got some things to read from some great Web sites out there.

Pop the top on your energy drink/coffee and start clicking:

Baseball

Fantasy Juice has my favorite link of the week by far. Expect us to expand on the concept a little here at Chinstrap Ninjas in the future, but be sure to go there now and check out their First Round Draft Pairs: Compliment your first-round pick.

Imaginary Diamond takes a moment to discuss picking between two potential dynasty stars for years to come in their Gordon Beckham vs. Andrew McCutchen post.

With a slant toward you auction folks, Advanced Fantasy Baseball gives you five tips for keeper leaguers. I like No. 3 — cheap does not equal keeper — and especially No. 5 — this season, not the future, is most important.

There’s a new center field crop in fantasy baseball this season, Beyond the Boxscore discusses Drew Stubbs, Cameron Maybin, Austin Jackson and Julio Borbon.

Zombies are everywhere, including in your fantasy baseball. Rotographs takes a look at the dead — like Ken Griffey Jr. and Jason Kendall — who walk among us.

Not sure if this was linked to here yet, but Project Prospect has your top 100 prospects for 2010.

I had at least one person really ticked off last year when I wrote how Jose Reyes could be the No. 1 pick and about how his elite speed and 15-homer potential was completely undervalued by all those lovers of the steroid freaks out there. Reyes was a bust, but I have hope he’ll make good this year. But, let’s all remember that it’s the post-steroid era folks, and Fake Teams agrees that dumping power can be a winning strategy in 2010.

Football

Not a super huge fan of the next whoever posts, but FanHouse has an interesting one: The next Ryan Grant. It’s not often the Tyrell Suttons and Khalil Bells of the fantasy football world get some love.

If you play fantasy football, you probably love the running backs. Razzball offers some dynasty rankings for 2010.

Who was rocking the 40 times at the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday? The Sporting News says it was Jahvid Best, Jacoby Ford and Golden Tate.

Terrell Owens is not going to be back in Buffalo, at least that’s what everybody is saying. Shutdown Corner asks, “Where will T.O. go?”

In-house content

Everybody, if you haven’t, please welcome Consigliere, who makes his entrance by giving you 10 players to target in your fantasy football dynasty league.

Sockonfl completed his series of points allowed in 2009 posts, talked about the Eagles’ situation and discussed the teams that might turn to running back help in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Jay-Mo provided a guide for watching the NFL Scouting Combine. The most important day of the event is over. However, the guide is still useful for when you read all the expert analysis.

Analysis of the elite 5×5 players conntinued. Ep took a look at the hitters, pitchers and Brewers table setters.

Jzak provided his 2010 dynasty RB rankings and took a look at the affect of ballparks on fantasy baseball and the importance of studying preseason player updates.

Baseball

The dudes over at Beyond the Boxscore have been chewing on injury data and spitting it back out into interesting shapes. Sorry, that not a great image over breakfast.

If you were thinking about drafting Cole Hamels as a value, and you should be, this post over at Fake Teams will clinch it for you.

Don’t just look at overall statistics, they can be misleading (Raul Ibanez!), Fantasy Hurler talks about some second-half stud hitters. I’ll be targeting a handful of those guys in 2010.

Fantasy Juice is putting 2009′s underachievers under the Legit or Quit microscope.

Jose Reyes is the No. 1 most risky/rewardy player in 2010. That’s a statement of fact. Imaginary Diamond provides some more words to back it up.

Catcher? You don’t need a catcher. Well, you do need one to fill out your lineup. But as Razzball Baseball points out, a mediocre catcher will do. Bengie Molina is the “key” to the argument. But for me, it’s the comparisons in the final stanza that makes the strategy sing.

Thought to myself the other day, we should do a list of some early ADP values. Rotographs is already on it. We’ll post one eventually, but this one is a great primer.

Fangraphs is predicting that Brett Gardner is this year’s Nyjer Morgan.

Football

Whatever is there to do during the fantasy football offseason? For starters, keep an eye on running back situations — Fanhouse has a list for you.

Jay Cutler+Mike Martz offense=big season for Devin Aromashodu. I’m totally buying what Razzball Football is selling.

In-house content:

We started talking about the NFL Draft, with posts about first-round order, and Sam Bradford and Jimmy Clausen scouting reports.

Jzak reviewed some 2010 dynasty tight end rankings, and told you it’s time to trade Adrian Peterson in your dynasty league.

Sockonfl’s look back at 2009 fantasy points allowed by position continues with the wide receivers.

Our look at the elite 5×5 stars was completed with 15 RBI kings, 12 WHIP masters, 13 save-happy closers, 8 batting average champs and 24 ERA Wizards.

We also turned the spotlight to 2010′s designated hitters.

Sound familiar? Thought so. Luckily, you and I are having this conversation because if you want to waste a few minutes — an hour if the boss comes in a little later than you — we’ve got some things to read from some great Web sites out there.

Pop the top on your energy drink/coffee and start clicking:

Baseball

Alex Rodriguez might set an amazing personal milestone this year and it has nothing to do with hits, runs, wins or strikeouts. Nope this is all about WAR, Wins Against Replacement. Beyond the Boxscore is predicting that A-Rod will become one of only 20 players to accumulate 100 WAR in his career.

Fake Teams takes a closer look at the Jekyll and Hyde that is B.J. Upton.

It’s breakfast time have some Fantasy Juice! The Juice crew has pegged Aaron Harang as a 2010 sleeper. I tend to agree.

The age old battle of longtime Major League superstars Billy Butler and Garrett Jones rages on at Razzball baseball. All kidding aside, there’s some convincing evidence to skip Butler and pick Jones.

Yankees prospect Jesus Montero gets his chance to shine on the Imaginary Diamond. Also, be sure to check out Imaginary Diamond’s lunch links from last week.

Roto Savants has a saucy new look to enjoy while reading about their Pick No. 3 analysis. Who would you pick, A-Rod, Utley or Braun?

As fans know, fantasy football and fantasy baseball seasons run 24/7/365, so it should come as no surprise that Razzball football is running a slow-burn 2010 fantasy mock draft.

Hey, I know most of you probably aren’t at your work desk and probably won’t be taking a “lunch break” today. But whenever you get a break — maybe it’s your late-morning, early-afternoon, thank-the-ninjas-it’s-Saturday beer-and-a-burger break — I found some things for you to click and read.

We’ve said it a number of times at Chinstrap Ninjas that it’s important to take advantage of the collection of tubes the Internet lives in and read as many opinions as you can. There’s some really good stuff out there that will make you a smarter fantasy player and more knowledged sports aficionado.

These are some of those articles:

FANTASY BASEBALL

Beyond the Boxscore takes a look at an interesting debate pitting the true value of Troy Tulowitski and Ryan Braun. As the site’s name suggests, they take a look beyond the typical counting stats you know and love.

The words Carlos Beltran, knee and microfracture all make an appearance in this post by Disabled List Informer, a site run by a physical therapist. I agree with the author, we should all just stay away from Beltran in 2010.

We Chinstrap Ninjas are all for throwing staleness out the window and introducing new concepts. I’m sure it’s been done by someone before, but I’ve never heard of this interesting keeper concept discussed at Fake Teams.

Fantasy baseball lists are everywhere, including Fanhouse’s fantasy department where an Early Top -10 Closers list has appeared.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able write letters to your favorite and least favorite fantasy players? Fantasy Baseball Geeks thinks so.

Rotoprofessor says Just Say No to Brett Wallace in 2010. I agree.

If your keeper options are Josh Hamilton or Carlos Beltran, isn’t it really the worst of both worlds? Alas, there are some of us debating the very question. First you should make sure you’ve read the Beltran DL Informer post linked above, then check out what Rotographs has to add to the argument.

FANTASY FOOTBALL

I know a lot of you folks are probably playing in NFL playoff fantasy leagues. Congrats. Razzball football’s got Super Bowl XLIV rankings for you.

Do you understand compensatory NFL picks? There’s some secret formula and such, but if you read this post by RotoRob you’ll understand it a lot better.
