Carlos Lee‘s 1-for-4 performance Wednesday is hardly worthy of the top 10, even with a home run and even on a slow day.
It is noteable however because he hit his first homer of the season and drove in a pair of runs. He’s only hitting .200, but the return of Lance Berkman should help Lee immensely.
Sorry, it’s not a super exciting fantasy baseball day.
Nine other noteworthy performances from Wednesday:
Miguel Cabrera — Went 3-for-3, including a pair of solo homer runs. He also walked once as his batting average climbed to .372.
Alex Avila — Hit a pair of solo homers in three at-bats. The 23-year-old is only hitting .200, but has extra base hits in three of his last four games.
Franklin Gutierrez — Scored twice and hit a two-run homer in a 2-for-4 day. He may be one of fantasy baseball’s luckiest hitters, but he’s batting .343 now.
Orlando Cabrera — In a 3-for-5 day, Cabrera hit a homer and drove in a pair of runs. He’s only hitting .257 this season.
Alex Rios — Scored a pair of runs, drove in three more and hit a two-run homer in a 2-f0r-3 day. He’s hitting .309 and loving life as a member of the Chicago White Sox.
Kyle Kendrick — Pitched seven shutout innings, scattering six hits and walking two. He struck out three. Not recommending Kendrick, but if he can pitch a few more games like this, he might be worth keeping on your list of potential streaming starters. He lowered his ERA at 5.87 and his WHIP is 1.53.
Adrian Beltre — Went 3-for-4 with a homer and a pair of RBIs. He’s hitting .340 and has made the top 10 a couple times in the last week.
Clint Barmes — He’s only hitting .229, but Barmes took a big step toward breaking out of his slump with a 3-for-5 day on Wednesday. He drove in three runs and scored once.
Rickie Weeks — Same numbers as Barmes, but where Barmes had a K, Weeks had a walk.
Matt Garza — A bonus today because of the week pitching performances, but Garza wasn’t too awful. He went eight innings, allowed six baserunners (one walk) and struck out five. He allowed two runs, which fits in with his 2.09 ERA. He lowered his WHIP to 1.07.
