Jay Cutler is no Kurt Warner and after last week’s showing against the Lions I wonder if any of the Bears receivers are as talented as Az Hakim, the No. 3 receiver for the greatest show on turf.
But Bears should put up yards and points (especially if they keep getting 89-yard TDs out of Matt Forte), but it’ll be interesting to see how they stack up against the Cowboys playmaking defense this week in Dallas.
Just like we did for last week’s projections, 2009 statistics factor in significantly but Week 1 provides added depth. Again, this is no perfect model. There are many improvements that could be made but we had relatively good accuracy with it last week despite the flaws. Translation: Use these at your own discretion but they should be pretty darn good.
This one’s projected to be a close, low-scoring affair with the Bears winning 17.0-16.8. With these offenses we could see a few more points than that.
The biggest matchup here is the Bears new aerial assault vs. a Cowboys defense that allowed just 171 yards passing last week. Also, the Bears allowed the Lions to sack Cutler four times last week. The Cowboys can play that game.
Speaking of playing the same game, the Bears held the Lions to the same number of passing yards (171). Against the Cowboys three-RB attack, we’ll see if the Bears run D is as stout as it looked while making a mockery of Jahvid Best’s debut in Week 1.
Speaking of that three-pronged attack. I thought it was surprising that Marion Barber and Felix Jones split carries. Even more surprising: Barber was targeted more times than Felix Jones. It’ll be interesting to see the final tallies this week.
One final note from last week’s games: It appears as though Dez Bryant and Matt Forte will be given every opportunity to be viable fantasy options this year. Both could be studs.
