It’s still early in the season, but if last week’s performances were any indication, this game against the Ravens is going to be a very long one for the Bengals.
If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll see our first sideline/postgame fireworks from the Wonder Twins (Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco).
Just like we did for last week’s projections, 2009 statistics factor in significantly but Week 1 provides added depth. Again, this is no perfect model. There are many improvements that could be made but we had relatively good accuracy with it last week despite the flaws. Translation: Use these at your own discretion but they should be pretty darn good.
The statistics give the Ravens a 23-17 advantage. It could be very much better or very much worse depending on which team you’re pulling for.
Ravens defense vs. everybody. That’s the top matchup we need to focus on here. Against an admittedly anemic Jets offense last week, the Ravens allowed under 200 yards of total offense and only 74 yards through the air. Considering Carson Palmer threw the ball 50 times last week, one of these sides has got to give.
The Bengals defense is equally perplexing. They have a young, talented group but got demolished last week by the Patriots. Was it a wakeup call or will the Ravens take advantage?
