As always when considering cash game players, you want loads of volume and opportunity.
You want quarterbacks and receivers on pass-heavy offenses and running backs who should approach 25-30 touches a game.
You want chalk plays. I’ve used this word a couple times but I’m not sure I’ve ever explained it. I’m sure you’ve heard it elsewhere and have probably figured out what it means. but I’m going to take a few words to explain it to you anyway.
Chalk players are players everyone else in the industry is likely to roster this week. They are obvious values. The term is taken from gambling, where chalk bets are the safest, the biggest favorites and/or the team/horse/boxer/etc. getting the most bets.
So when I or anyone else in the fantasy industry calls someone chalk, know that means they should produce near their floor — great for cash games — but also be highly owned — bad for tournaments.
Many of the players on my cash list here are chalk. But I’m considering all of them in cash games this week and I think you should too.
