A different method was used to put together this week’s matchups.
The lists start with Football Outsiders’ excellent Defense-Adjusted Value Over Average. After comparing DVOA, yards per game and receptions per game and all of the multiple variants that can be made with those three statistics, it became clear DVOA was a statistic that should play a part in our rankings.
Next, I went to fantasy points allowed charts over at FFtoday.com and added them to the list. So teams whose FFPG against conflict with DVOA have been removed from the ranking.
As I mentioned last week, these matchups are essentially boom or bust start/sit rankings.
Passing matchups for Week 8:
Crockett Gillmore vs. Cincinnati — I went over Gillmore in our PPR tight end projections. The rookie is a big target with decent athleticism. He could play a major this week and is an excellent sleeper in daily fantasy.
Jordan Reed vs. Dallas — He’s cheap at the daily fantasy sites too.
Greg Olsen vs. Seattle — Not all hope is lost for the Carolina passing game
Garrett Graham vs. Tennesse — I don’t care how good the matchup is. Just, no.
Zach Ertz vs. Arizona — This matchup is excellent. I’ll have some shares of Ertz this week.
Jared Cook vs. Kansas City
The New York Giants are on bye
Dwayne Allen/Coby Fleener vs. Pittsburgh
Chase Ford vs. Tampa Bay
Heath Miller vs. Indianapolis
Austin Sefarian-Jenkins vs. Minnesota
John Carlson vs. Philadelphia
Andrew Quarless vs. New Orleans
Luke Willson/Cooper Helfet vs. Carolina
Kellen Davis/Jordan Thompson vs. Atlanta
San Francisco is on bye
Jordan Cameron vs. Oakland
Mychal Rivera vs. Cleveland
Clay Harbor vs. Miami
Jace Amaro/Jeff Cumberland vs. Bufalo
Delanie Walker vs. Houston — New quarterback Zach Mettenberger could benefit Tennessee’s deep threats.
Levine Toilolo vs. Detroit
